Meeting RoomThe Old Farmer’s Almanac is the oldest continuously published non-newspaper periodical in the world… how did it come to be, and why is it still popular today?
If you are a gardener, you are likely familiar with the Old Farmer’s Almanac. During this presentation, Dr. Joe Willis will discuss some of the history, uses, and accuracy of the Old Farmer’s Almanac as well as the changes it has gone through during its publication.
Dr. Joe Willis is the LSU AgCenter Horticulture Agent for Orleans Parish and holds a BS in botany from North Carolina State University and a Ph.D. in plant pathology from the University of California-Riverside. In conjunction with other local agents, he has developed several online courses that have reached gardeners from all 50 states and 72 different countries. Dr. Joe also serves as the Louisiana Master Gardener coordinator for the Orleans/Jefferson program.
This workshop is organized by Ascension Parish Library and the LSU AgCenter to educate adults interested in gardening, landscaping, and modern agriculture.
