Step back in time and experience how people lived in 1776.

What if you could spend a day in Revolutionary America? Celebrate the nation’s semiquincentennial at the library as it is transformed into a small town inspired by life in 1776. Wander from station to station, meeting historical figures, trying colonial games and crafts, and viewing replicas of common household items. All activities will help you understand what life was like during the American Revolution. There will also be light colonial-inspired refreshments for you to enjoy as you experience the sights, sounds, and stories of a nation in the making.

About the Location

Our Gonzales location was built in 1980 under the direction of Earline Decoteau, Director and serves as our Main Library location. It was expanded & renovated in 1996, 1998, and 2011, under the direction of Angelle Deshautelles, Director.
