Remembering the Ladies
Patriotic Passion of Women During the American Revolution
Tuesday, November 10
6:00pm - 7:00pm
Galvez
Meeting Room 2Abigail Adams famously said, “Remember the ladies!” This informational skit spotlights women’s efforts during the American Revolution. Registration Required.
Take a trip back to colonial Boston and hear the stories of four women who played important roles in the Revolutionary War. From organizing economic boycotts to supporting soldiers and helping negotiate peace, women contributed to the war effort in countless ways, often taking great risks along the way. Members of the Canary Islands Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will bring these stories to life in an educational skit, with Abigail Adams seated at a tea table and four heroic women stopping by to share their wartime experiences. After the skit, stick around for tea, snacks, and a Q&A with the presenters.
The Canary Islands Chapter of the Louisiana State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (LSDAR) was founded in April 2021. Their theme, "Strength through Diversity," represents the diverse collection of American Revolutionary War patriots, including the Spanish, French, Native Americans, and African Americans who helped destroy British occupation of Baton Rouge and eliminate access to the Mississippi River during the war.
